The New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) is a comprehensive list of all quality assured qualifications in New Zealand. The NZQF is the definitive source for accurate and current information on qualifications.

All qualifications that are worth 40 credits or more and have been quality assured by a recognised quality assurance body are eligible to be added to the NZQF, see NZQF policies for more information. NZQA administers the NZQF.

Search the New Zealand Qualifications Framework.

The NZQF groups together qualifications that place similar demands on learners. The NZQF has ten levels of qualification, within any one level qualifications can cover a wide mix of subjects, and take different amounts of time to complete. Each level is based on the complexity of learning, with level one the least complex and level ten the most, see NZQF levels. Each level has a designated credit value and qualification type. For more information see Qualification types.

Established on 1 July 2010, NZQF replaces the New Zealand Register of Quality Assured Qualifications ( also known as KiwiQuals ) and the National Qualifications Framework. All qualifications on the Register and the National Qualifications Framework have been placed on the NZQF. For more information see History of NZQF.

NZQF is the definitive source for accurate and current information on each qualification. For more information about qualifications see Qualification overview.

Search for a qualification on the NZQF

You can search the New Zealand Qualifications Framework to:

  • find all quality assured qualifications available in New Zealand
  • compare different qualifications and see which education providers are offering them, or which industry training organisations can arrange training. This is important when making decisions on what qualifications are available, when and where you want to study.
  • see what level a qualification is at and the kinds of skills you could expect to gain through completing that qualification. Over time, you will also see information on pathways between lower and higher level qualifications in the same subject. This is important when making decisions on the level and type of qualification you require for employment or further study.

To search for a qualification on the NZQF, see Qualifications Search.
