Moderation appeals
Where there are serious concerns about moderation decisions, it is recommended that you contact NZQA to seek clarification about moderator comments or how to appeal moderation decisions.
To appeal a moderation decision, you must send your specific concerns with a completed NZDipBus moderation appeal cover sheet (see below) to NZQA, unless specified otherwise. This must be completed within three weeks of the date of the moderation result letter and moderation report.

The appeal cover sheet must be accompanied by a copy of the moderation report and reasons for appealing the moderation decision. Detailed evidence from the moderation submission must be included where comments within the moderation report are being appealed. Tertiary Assessment and Moderation will acknowledge receipt of each appeal including additional information as appropriate and convey the timeframe for processing the appeal.
Where necessary, NZQA will forward these concerns and written instructions to an appropriate moderator for re-moderation.
On completion of the process, NZQA will send you the result of your appeal, and a new moderation report if appropriate.
