Secondary school statistics
Flexible features
There are a number of simple tools provided for each report type that allow you to select and organise the data you want. These tools are described below:
| Feature | Use |
|---|---|
| Comparisions | Each report contains two panels. These are designed to enable you to make comparisons.
Such comparisons could be between a single school and other schools in its decile band; one school with another school; or one group of students with another group; e.g. boys compared with girls. |
| Filters | You can filter data (i.e., select sub-sets of data) on a number of variables, and on combinations of these variables:
|
| Breakdown | In addition to filters, you can break the data down (that is, separate it out) by:
|
| Percentage or Number | You can choose to have the data presented as either percentages or as actual numbers. Which you choose will depend largely on how you want to use the data. The default view is percentages. |
| Sub-reports | After a report has been generated, some elements of the data will provide a link to a sub-report or to other report types. These allow more detailed information to be displayed. For example, you can click on a heading for NCEA Level 1, 2 or 3 in the Qualifications reports to see data reporting certificate endorsements for the selected level of NCEA. |
| Internal Navigation | The pathway menu at the top of the screen allows you to navigate back to a previous screen. NB : If you use the 'Back' button on your internet browser, you will lose any parameter options you have selected. |
| Export | Once data are obtained, you can import them into applications such as Microsoft Excel and OpenOffice Calc using the icons at the top of the report page. |
