Assessment and Certification Rules and Procedures for Secondary Schools - 2008

4.2 Fees

  1. The Chief Executive will advise the Minister of the schedule of fees proposed for entry to any of the qualifications by the end of the academic year in the year preceding the assessment.

  2. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority will advise schools of the following year's schedule of fees for each of the qualifications no later than the beginning of the academic year in which the assessment takes place. If necessary, The New Zealand Qualifications Authority will advise schools that the schedule of fees is subject to the Minister's consent. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority may set alternative dates in extenuating circumstances.

  3. The Education Act 1989 provides for The New Zealand Qualifications Authority to approve and the Minister of Education to consent to the fees structure for school qualifications. The Minister has consented to the following fee structure:

    Fee structure for domestic candidates Fee
    Entry for all NQF standards and up to 3 Scholarship subjects $75
    Additional Scholarship entries $75 per subject

    Fee structure for international fee paying candidates Fee
    Entry for all NQF standards $375
    Entry for each Scholarship subject $100 per subject

  4. The Government has provided limited funding for financial assistance for students enrolled in New Zealand secondary schools who are entering national qualifications.

  5. A late entry fee may apply if candidates fail to meet entry deadlines.

  6. A search and confirmation fee will apply for certified statements of official results.

  7. A special processing fee may be charged if special examination arrangements are provided for a candidate.

  8. A fee for the return of external assessment material to candidates with an overseas address will apply.

  9. A reconsideration fee will apply to applications for reconsideration of externally assessed written examinations.

  10. A fee for the issue of NQF certificates other than bulk runs of NCEA levels 1 - 3 to eligible learners will apply.

  11. A fee will be charged for the calculation of the tertiary selection score for Australian Universities.

  12. Candidates who have not paid the appropriate fees, unless exempted through the financial assistance procedures, will not receive any official results for that qualification.

  13. For 2008, the following supplementary fee structure will apply:

    Service Fee for 2007
    Search and Confirmation for Past Result $25 (per statement)
    Reconsideration - NCEA (per booklet or portfolio) $20
    Reconsideration - Scholarship (per subject) $30
    Issue of NQF Certificates other than bulk runs of NCEA levels 1, 2 and 3 $15
    Return of assessment material to overseas addresses (per candidate regardless of the number of booklets) $30
    Return of Level 3 Visual Arts portfolios to overseas addresses $100 (per folio)
    Late entry (per candidate) $50
    Calculation of tertiary selection score for Australian universities $50
    Record of Achievement (one free copy per year) $15 (per extra copy)
