Reviews and Appeals
Reviews
Reviews can be requested for a number of decisions: audit cycles; applications for registration, course approval and NQF accreditation; factual accuracy of audit reports.
Decisions relating to these procedures are internally reviewed as a matter of standard procedure before the organisation is notified of the outcome. However, organisations may apply for an independent review of any decision issued by the Quality Assurance Division (QAD) of NZQA.
Appeals
Appeals apply to legal processes: cancellation of a provider's registration, withdrawal of accreditation to deliver an approved course, withdrawal of course approval. Cancellation of registration revokes the ability to deliver NZQA-approved courses and gain funding from the Tertiary Education Commission.
The appeals procedure is more formal than for reviews, and requires the provider to submit a case to the NZQA Appeals Committee for consideration.
