Applying for an International Qualifications Assessment
What is an International Qualifications Assessment?
This is a full assessment of up to 5 qualifications that were gained outside New Zealand. The assessment will state, where possible, which currently offered New Zealand qualification(s) on the Register of Quality Assured Qualifications (the Register) are substantially similar to the qualification(s) you have gained outside New Zealand. The IQA also indicates the level of learning outcome your qualification represents on the Register.
If it is not possible to match your qualification to a New Zealand qualification currently on the Register, the nominated qualification will be compared to a level (and where possible credit value) on the Register. You may view more information about the assessment.

How long will it take?
The timeframes below start from the date NZQA receives ALL the required information, documentation, and fees. They EXCLUDE any delays caused by delays in responding by third parties (such as overseas universities responding to requests for verification).
Standard Application |
The standard assessment process within NZQA will take thirty-five working days. |
Fast Track Application |
The fast track assessment process is to be used only when there are pressing time imperatives. Applications will take twenty working days to process, or longer where there is missing documentation and/or verification is required. |

How do I apply?
You may apply by completing an online application form. You will be given a user id (i.e. login) with a password and you will be able to return to your application at any time (by logging in) in order to complete it.
You will be able to use the same login to follow the progress of your application once it has been submitted to NZQA. If you already have a NZQA login & password because you have made a previous assessment application, you should log in using those.

Fee payment is a final step of the online application and is made by credit or debit card (VISA or MasterCard). Once payment is made, the application form is submitted to NZQA.
