6.1 General Conditions for External Assessment

1. The following administrative systems will apply to all externally assessed achievement standards, and Scholarship.



Guiding Principles for Sitting Examinations:

2. Examinations will be held at such times and places as determined by NZQA.
3. NCEA and Scholarship examinations will be sat at the published times in New Zealand, the Cook Islands and Niue.
4. NZQA will develop an examination timetable, derived from previous entry data, designed to minimise possible clashes.
5. Candidates should make informed entry choices for examinations based upon the examination timetable, which is published by 10 December in the year preceding the assessment, so as to avoid examination clashes if possible.
6. Candidates with examination clashes where possible will have their assessment needs accommodated in line with the administrative guidelines for sequestering and examination clash management.
